Football Manager 27 Launch Preview goes free on PC and Mac until 3 November

Football Manager 27 Launch Preview goes free on PC and Mac until 3 November

Sports Interactive has made the Football Manager 27 Launch Preview free to play on PC and Mac until 6pm (GMT) on 3 November. The offer is live now across Steam, Epic, the Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, and no extra sign-up is required to start playing.

The free period arrives alongside FM27’s pre-purchase window, which is also live. Sports Interactive says players who buy through a SEGA-approved retailer can get 10% off, while the Launch Preview remains available between 6pm (GMT) on 3 November and the official launch on 10 November.

FM27’s full Launch Preview is open across multiple platforms

Sports Interactive says the free period covers the complete FM27 Launch Preview, not a stripped-down demo. That includes every game mode currently planned for the build, along with Shuffle Draft, the new multiplayer addition the studio has already highlighted in earlier coverage.

The studio’s wording makes the platform spread broader than a simple PC offer. Alongside Steam and Epic, the free period also covers the Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, with the same Launch Preview available through those routes. The company adds that different platforms may go live at different times, so access can vary depending on where players download it.

That also matters for subscribers. Sports Interactive says the Launch Preview is only available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers, and that users can move from the free version to the paid Launch Preview through their subscription if they want to keep going.

The studio says anyone who starts a career during the free period can carry it over into the paid Launch Preview and the full release. In practice, that means there is no need to abandon a save when the free access window ends, which gives the preview a longer life than a short-term trial.

How the Launch Preview differs from older access builds

Sports Interactive describes the FM27 Launch Preview as a replacement for the series’ previous Beta or Advanced Access titles. The studio says it is intended to be closer in quality and finality to the official launch version, even though it is still a preview build.

The official announcement also warns that bugs and glitches may still appear. Sports Interactive says its developers will work to address problems in future updates, and players who spot issues can report them in a dedicated area on the SI Forums. The message is clear: this is a near-final build, but not a finished one.

The company adds one more caveat in the fine print. Because the version is still under approval by right holders, it may contain data that does not yet accurately reflect real-world information, and some club and player assets may be absent.

Pre-purchase, carry-over saves and the road to launch

The timing gives FM27 a short runway to launch, with the free preview ending on 3 November before the paid Launch Preview continues to the full release on 10 November. Sports Interactive is also using the announcement to point players toward its deep dive videos and blogs for more detail on the game’s features and improvements.

For anyone who wants a quick reminder of how FM27 is being positioned, the Launch Preview sits alongside other recent announcements from Sports Interactive, including the game’s Shuffle Draft mode and the Roshn Saudi League licence. The studio has also already outlined changes to the interface and tactical systems in earlier FM27 coverage.

  • Free access runs until 6pm (GMT) on 3 November
  • Supported platforms include Steam, Epic, the Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass
  • No additional sign-up is required
  • Shuffle Draft is included in the Launch Preview
  • Careers can carry over into the paid Launch Preview and full release
  • The pre-purchase window includes 10% off through a SEGA-approved retailer
  • The Launch Preview is meant to be closer to the final release than older Beta or Advanced Access builds

The result is a limited free window, but one with a direct path into the paid version and the full launch just over a week later.
