EA SPORTS FC 27 brings UEFA Road to the Knockouts back to Ultimate Team
EA SPORTS has brought UEFA Road to the Knockouts back to EA SPORTS FC 27, rolling out a new Football Ultimate Team promo built around European club results. The publisher said on 6 November that player items will receive live upgrades based on their clubs’ goals, wins and finishing position in the League phase.
The announcement puts club performance front and centre again, with “every goal, every point, and every league position” feeding into the upgrade path for RTTK items. EA SPORTS said the tracking runs “right through to the final game of the League phase,” keeping the promo tied to the weekly flow of UEFA competition rather than a one-time launch boost.
Live upgrades return with club results
Road to the Knockouts has long been one of Ultimate Team’s performance-based promos, and FC 27’s version keeps that structure in place while focusing on the clubs rather than individual stars alone. EA SPORTS said the upgrades for UEFA Road to the Knockouts Player Items are driven by their club’s goals, wins and finishing position.
That means the promo’s progression is linked to what happens in Europe each week, with clubs pushing for results that can change how RTTK cards develop. EA SPORTS also pointed players to the latest Star Performers Player Items, which are set to release on Monday 9 November.
For players following the promo closely, Sports Games Plus has also been tracking the event through the FC 27 RTTK tracker with upgrade paths and fixtures.
Single-player event adds another route to rewards
EA SPORTS is also introducing a Road to the Knockouts Single Player Live Event, giving Ultimate Team players a separate path through the promo. The mode features themed opponents across each difficulty level and uses first-to-three matches, with players choosing their difficulty before tackling the challenge.
Objectives sit at the centre of that mode, and EA SPORTS said completion will unlock themed rewards, including Packs. The setup mirrors the wider Ultimate Team structure in FC 27, where timed events and objectives often offer alternative routes to rewards alongside pack-based promos.
Ultimate Gauntlet and Rush join the promo week
The RTTK content does not stop at player items and a single-player event. EA SPORTS said the third Ultimate Gauntlet will arrive during UEFA Road to the Knockouts, alongside a new themed Rush Event.
That gives the promo week a broader spread of modes, with competitive and casual-style objectives running in parallel. The publisher did not give a full breakdown of all reward tiers in the announcement, but it did confirm that the themed events will be available as part of the same RTTK window.
Squad building content rolls out through the week
EA SPORTS said the promo will also be supported by a set of themed Squad Building Challenges, Evolutions and UEFA Road to the Knockouts Objectives arriving throughout the week. Those additions give players more ways to build toward the promo without relying on live match results alone.
With RTTK back in FC 27, the week’s content stretches across multiple areas of Ultimate Team: live-upgrading player items tied to UEFA club form, a solo event built around themed opponents, the third Ultimate Gauntlet, a new Rush event, and a steady drip of SBCs, Evolutions and Objectives. The announcement keeps the focus firmly on European nights, with club performances now shaping how the promo develops in-game.

Last RTTK I packed a winger and he stayed stuck for two weeks because the club couldn’t buy a win. Felt like I was watching my coins get relegated in real time.
brutal tax
lol exactly, that’s why I like the weekly tracking though. When the club’s form actually moves the card, it feels less like buying a random shiny and more like following the actual run in Europe. Still annoying when your guy is sitting on one upgrade and the whole thing hangs on a midweek result.
Had a defender go nowhere for me
first-to-three matches for the single-player event is the only part here that sounds kinda decent. at least it’s not one sweaty game and done.
yeah until the themed AI starts playing like prime Barca for no reason
UT promos are way better when the upgrades are tied to club results instead of just another batch of juiced cards on day one. At least there’s a reason to care about the fixtures.
I had one RTTK card a couple years back that jumped just because the team kept scraping results. That part was fun, but it also meant I was rooting for some random league side like I had money on them.
i actually prefer the live upgrades more than static cards but only if the card is usable now. otherwise it is just waiting for a maybe and that is boring
nah, the maybe is the whole thing
Does the League phase thing mean cards can still move after the promo drops, or do they lock once the next round starts?
maybe the final league phase game is the cutoff? not 100% sure though
thanks, i’ll test it on mine
yeah, usually
Worth the grind?
If you’re asking whether the rewards justify actually touching the event, probably not unless you already like single-player objectives. First-to-three is fine, but themed AI and packs are still packs – feels like a side hustle for menu players, not something you’d rush for if you’re already grinding Rivals or Champs. The live upgrades are the real draw, and even then that depends on the clubs more than your gameplay.
yeah but i do like obj cards for my team. not everything need to be elite for champs
fair, mister patience. some of us have seen enough 82-rated packs to know the pain
haha true, we all know the pack pain
