Forza Horizon 5 adds the 1996 Subaru SVX for a 90s playlist week

Forza Horizon 5 adds the 1996 Subaru SVX for a 90s playlist week

Playground Games has added the 1996 Subaru SVX to Forza Horizon 5 as part of the latest Back to the 90s Festival Playlist week, with the unlock running from October 31 until November 7. The announcement also lays out a full slate of seasonal events, rewards, and 90s-focused challenges across the base game, Hot Wheels, and Rally Adventure.

The Subaru SVX is the week’s headline car. Playground Games says Subaru built it to match the “extreme vibe of the 90s era,” and adds that it “could (and did) run from Seattle all the way to the Arctic Circle.” The studio also points to the car’s unusual roof, describing it as an almost one-piece glass canopy inspired by aircraft, which gave the SVX different sections of windows. Under the bonnet, the car used a 3.3-liter straight-six engine making 231 horsepower, sent to all wheels through Subaru’s AWD system. Playground Games says the aerodynamic shape produced a drag coefficient of 2.9.

Spring reward and series rewards

The 1996 Subaru SVX appears as the 20-point Spring reward in the playlist. Playground Games says the throwback event ends with a Treasure Hunt, PR Stunts, and “plenty of other challenges” as the 90s theme carries through the week.

The wider seasonal reward track includes the 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E at 80 points and the 1992 GMC Typhoon at 160 points. A Backstage Pass is also listed as the 40-point Spring reward. The event structure gives the playlist a straightforward reward ladder, with the SVX sitting near the beginning and the headline series prizes reserved for later point totals.

Three EventLab challenges and a 90s-only Trial

The final week of Back to the 90s includes three EventLab challenges and a Trial that restricts entry to Lamborghinis and Ferraris only. Playground Games also calls out the #PawsForAPicture Photo Challenge, which asks players to take their 1993 Jaguar XJ220 for a photoshoot.

Several events on the board tie directly to specific rewards:

  • Forzathon Weekly: Is that a Supra?! — 1998 Toyota Supra RZ for 160 Forzathon PTS
  • EventLab: Storm Drain — Super Wheelspin for 3 PTS
  • EventLab: Mesa Circuit — 1987 Buick Regal GNX for 3 PTS
  • The Trial: Retro Rewind — 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR Forza Edition for 10 PTS
  • Seasonal Championship: 90s Icons: Toyota MR2 — 1969 Dodge Charger R/T for 5 PTS
  • Seasonal Championship: On the Lookout — 1972 Hoonigan Chevrolet Napalm Nova for 2 PTS
  • PR Stunts: Quebrada – Trailblazer, Carretera – Speed Zone, and Avenida – Speed Trap — Super Wheelspin for 2 PTS each

The playlist also includes Horizon Tour, Hide & Seek, and Horizon Super7, each with its own point payout or reward. Horizon Tour awards 8 points for completing a co-op championship, while Hide & Seek and the Super7 Challenge both hand out Super Wheelspins.

Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure rewards

The 90s theme continues into the expansions. In Hot Wheels, the Seasonal Championship Pretending I’m a Supervan uses 1990s AWD cars in B 700 class and rewards the 1994 Ford Supervan 3 for 5 points. Hot Wheels players also have a PR Stunt at Treetops – Speed Zone, set for 1990s France cars in B 700, with a Super Wheelspin on offer.

Rally Adventure gets its own separate rewards, led by the Seasonal Championship A Bug’s Life, which asks for Unlimited Buggies in A 800 and pays out the 1999 Lotus Elise Series 1 Sport 190 for 5 points. Another PR Stunt, Canyon – Danger Sign, also uses 1990s France in B 700 and awards a Super Wheelspin for 2 points.

The week’s treasure hunt, Danger in Diablo, sends players to earn 2 stars at Ridge Crest before claiming a Lamborghini Diablo and picking up 90,000 CR. That sits alongside the rest of the 90s roster, which also includes the 1995 Toyota MR2 GT for the #LittleRunabout Photo Challenge reward name, and the 1998 Toyota Supra RZ, 1987 Buick Regal GNX, and 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR Forza Edition among the seasonal prizes.

This Festival Playlist update keeps the focus on a single era, but the Subaru SVX is the week’s clear centrepiece. Playground Games has tied the car’s unlock to the broader Back to the 90s playlist, with the event window ending on November 7.

anyone know if the SVX is worth doing on PC if i only have a couple nights to play? 20 points sounds easy but i dont want to waste time if the 500E or Typhoon are the better grabs

why would you skip it if you can get it that fast tho? if you’re already logging in for the week, 20 points is basically free and the SVX is the headline car
